About the Department

The Department of Political Science has been an integral part of Panchur College since the inception of the college in 2008. The department has catered to the various needs of students interested in learning the intricacies of politics and political theory. Courses in the department range from the study of Indian as well as Western Political Thought to an in depth understanding of the niceties of various constitutions of modern democracies (with an emphasis on the Constitution and Politics of India), the intriguing subject of International Relations, the legalities of International Law, Modern Public Administration, and Research Methodologies etc. The department not only attempts to inculcate an understanding of the workings of a democratic government to its students, but also encourages in them the positive qualities of a modern world citizen.

The faculty not only employs traditional classroom teaching, but also ensures teaching through modern audio visual mediums as well as the effective use of Smart Classrooms in consonance with modern teaching methods propounded by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The department also proposes to organise field trips and excursions in the near future that would be relevant towards the curriculum of the students. Above all, the department believes in an egalitarian dispersal of education as well as assistance rendered towards students who may need additional aid in order to understand the gamut of Political Science as a subject.
